Amazon launches cloud service in Sweden

On Wednesday 12th December Amazon opened its new data centers just outside of Stockholm at Eskilstuna, Västerås and Katrineholm – the first of their kind not only in Sweden but the whole of the Nordics.

There had been much speculation before the Amazon press conference took place in Stockholm.

That speculation was put to rest when the Nordic and Baltic CEO Guido Bartels announced that the cloud computing infrastructure region of Europe Stockholm is now running.

“Tens of thousands of Nordic customers have been using AWS from regions around the world, but many have shared that they also wanted an AWS Region in the Nordics so they can easily operate their most latency-sensitive workloads for end-users in the Nordics while meeting any data sovereignty requirements.

We’re excited to deliver from our AWS Stockholm Region today to meet these customer requests.”
