In the next interview in our behind-the-scenes series with WakeupData staff members, I interviewed myself. A strange experience it must be said, but it had to happen sooner or later as I'd spoken to most of the WakeupData already.
Could you introduce yourself and let us know what it is you do at WakeupData?I'm Ben, a content marketer here at WakeupData. My job involves everything from writing material for our blog, website, email and social media to developing our SEO strategy, engaging with clients and other marketers, producing video content and recording voiceovers where I attempt to sound like David Attenborough.
And can you tell us something about your background?
I moved to Denmark a couple of years ago from the UK, as my girlfriend is Danish and was beginning her studies at BSS. Once here I interned in the PR department of the 'Aarhus 2017 - European Capital of Culture' which was a great experience.
I started working for WakeupData in October 2017, initially just a few hours a week - doing proofreading of the existing website content we had. In January of last year I took on the role of content marketer and have grown into the job since then.
What is your favourite part of the job?
WakeupData is a small company which is growing more and more every day. To be able to be a part of our successes is a great feeling, because I like being able to see the hard work which the team puts in paying off.
As I mentioned above, my role as content marketer here is so varied - whether it's producing inbound content, SEO or social media marketing - that there is always a new project and new challenge to tackle as well.
Outside of your daily work with WakeupData, what are your interests or hobbies?
I'm a bit of a history nerd and have worked as a tour guide in various places for 8 years now. I enjoy reading and learning about the place where I'm living - and then pretending I'm an expert by telling tourists about it. You can sometimes find me doing tours on the weekend for Aarhus Experience.
For the last few months I've begun writing blog content and interviewing artists for the cultural platform AARHUSMAKERS.
I also enjoy playing and watching sport, I'm a fan of Yeovil Town FC and since moving to Denmark I've played some rugby and cricket for the Aarhus teams.
And finally...who is your favorite superhero?
A tricky question as I've never been a huge superhero fan. I'd have to say the British superhero: Superbob - as he is the opposite of everything a conventional superhero should be.
Thanks Ben - nice to talk to you...Check out our other staff interviews via our blog, or explore our case studies, e-books and guides below.
